some say.. if you could earn it, you deserve it..
but don't buy don't buy what they're selling
it couldn't be further from the truth.
I think your day's about to get better. it's the best news ever.
for who in the skies above can compare with the Lord? who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings? in the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him. who is like you, Lord God Almighty? you, Lord, are mighty, &your faithfulness surrounds you.
consider it PURE JOY, my brothers &sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
the teachers of the law &the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. they made her stand before the group &said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women, now what do you say?" they were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
but Jesus bent down &started to write on the ground with his finger. when they kept on questioning him, he straightened up &said to them, "let any 1 of you who is without sin be the 1st to throw a stone at her." again he stooped down &wrote on the ground.
at this, those who heard began to go away 1 at a time, the older 1s 1st, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up &asked her, "woman, where are they? has no1 condemned you?"
"no 1 sir," she said.
"then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "go now &leave your life of sin."
I'm not a warrior, I'm too afraid to lose.
I feel unqualified for what you're calling me to do.
but Lord with your strength, I got no excuse;
because broken people are exactly who you use.
so give me faith like Daniel in the lion's den.
give me hope like Moses in the wilderness.
give me a heart like David; Lord, be my defense, so I can face my giants with confidence.
but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, ¬ be weary; &they shall walk, ¬ faint.
know that the Lord is God. it is he who made us, &we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. enter his gates with thanksgiving &his courts with praise; give thanks to him &praise his name. for the Lord is good &his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
what is written in the Law?
he answered, "love the Lord your God with all your heart &with all your soul &with all your strength &with all your mind &love your neighbor as yourself."
"You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "do this &you will live."
but he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "&who is my neighbor?"
my home is in heaven; I'm just travelin' through the world -BG
as rain &snow come down from heaven, &don't return to it w/o watering Earth &making it bud &flourish, so that it yields seed for sower &bread for eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but accomplish what i desire &achieve the purpose for which i sent it.
out of love for the truth &the desire to bring it to light -95 theses, 1517.
if there are words for Him then, I don't have them. you see my brain has not yet reached a point where it could form a thought that could adequately describe the greatness of my God. &my voice is so inhibited, restrained by human limits, that it's hard to even sing a praise up. my God: unsearchable yet knowable. indefinable, yet approachable. indescribable, yet personal.
when the world shook &the sun was wiped out of heaven, it was not at the crucifixion, but at the cry from the cross: the cry which confessed that God was forsaken of God. &now let the revolutionists choose a creed from all the creeds &a god from all the gods of the world, carefully weighing all the gods of inevitable recurrence &of unalterable power. they will not find another god who has himself been in revolt. nay (the matter grows too difficult for human speech), but let the atheists themselves choose a god. they will find only 1 divinity who ever uttered their isolation; only 1 religion in which God seemed for an instant to be an atheist.
-G.K.C orthodoxy. matt. 27:46
"my God, why have you forsaken me?" Jesus cried from cross. †
